Across 72 used Lexus RXs we inspected, this model scores a little better than average — average condition 65/100 vs 60 for all cars we check. Every number on this page comes from real pre-purchase inspections — cars people were about to buy and paid an independent inspector to go through point by point, engine to underbody, paint depth to error codes. Not owner surveys, not warranty statistics, not forum lore: what we actually found.

How they score
What the seller might not mention — how often we find it on this model.
Share of Lexus RXs in good shape (scoring 60+/100) by mileage and by age when we inspected them (each dot ≥5 cars; rolled-back odometers excluded from the mileage curve). The dashed grey curve is all cars we check.

Straight from recent Lexus RX reports
Engine problems dominate the fault list on the RX, with oil leaks on 56 percent of them and fuel trim out of range close behind, so your first moves are a careful under-hood inspection for seepage and a full OBD scan for those active codes. Suspension bushings crack often enough to warrant a lift check, and tire wear is another frequent hit that should come out of the asking price. Repaints show up on most examples, so treat bodywork as expected rather than a deal-breaker, but use any engine or chassis issues to negotiate aggressively or walk away if the seller won't fix them first.
